Job
Postings Flat Past Seven Days -
(Albany,
NY, January 30, 2013) – Job postings in our region and in the state
were flat the past seven days. After a good run up after the holidays , the
market has cooled a bit, not unusual for this time of the year. “ While the
market has been flat the exciting news is that there are plenty of new
companies posting jobs – large and small – and that is a good sign as the jobs
are across all types on industries and sizes of companies. This opens more
opportunities for more people – and that is good”, stated Dan Moran, of
Next-Act (www.next-act.com),
a career transition management firm located in Colonie.
Postings
came in at just about 1525, down from 1575 the week prior. “The market
continues to be stronger than last year at this point – a trend that is
continuing - and that continues to be a good sign. 2013 is looking, at least at
this point, to be better than 2012”.
Other
markets in NYS saw similar results. The Capital Region continues to still
outpace Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse, all larger markets with more employers
and population.
National
Job Scene
Job
postings were flat nationally as well. As of 1/30/2013 there were 525,105
job postings this past seven days, from 523,332 the week prior, a very small
change.
