Job
Postings Continue to Remain Flat; March Way Up; Expected flat results this week
with holiday
(Albany,
NY, April 3, , 2013) – Job postings remained flat for the past
seven days even during a traditional down period given the holiday which is a
continued good sign for our region. Postings came in at 1822, compared to 1900
the week before, a very minimal change. “Strong indicators still
maintain in the market. Employer confidence seems to be strong and the next
quarter we have started should be a good one” stated Dan Moran, of Next-Act (www.next-act.com),
a career transition management firm located in Colonie. “ If the second quarter
– April – June remains strong – we will have a good year for the job market in
our Region”.
Other
markets in NYS saw up and down results which is a bit surprising. The Capital
Region continues to still outpace Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse, all larger
markets with more employers and population.
National
Job Scene
Job
postings increased strongly nationally. As of 4/3/13 there were 519,000,
down significantly from 580,000 job postings nationally the week before.
