Job Postings Drop Slightly as Holiday Approaches

(Albany, NY, June 29, 2011) – Job postings decreased again slightly this past week, dipping below 4000 to approximately 3825 but still stronger than late Spring signaling that the summer months may be stronger job market months than in recent years, good news for job seekers. “ We seem to be hovering in the 4000 range which is good – especially for this time of the year – but still down about 20% from last year. Analysts are forecasting a stronger second half of the year for jobs – we are seeing signs that this is materializing. Still however, the market isn’t as strong as last year – but better than 2009”, stated Dan Moran, Founder & President of Next-Act (www.next-act.com), a career transition management firm located in Colonie.

“Job seekers need to continue to be aggressive in the summer months as it appears the market has shifted from spring to summer. Also – stay connected with your email, return phone calls and generally be assessable – many recruiters complain that candidates become lax in the summer when they are trying to reach them about a potential job”.

Job postings were flat in other major New York State markets were down that past week. Albany is the smallest market in size when compared to the other markets and continued to outpace with more job postings.
