Postings Jump 11% Last Seven Days
(Albany,
NY, July 4, 2012) – At a time when not expected, just before a holiday,
job postings in the region increased 11% over the previous week, coming in at
1800 – where they were two weeks ago. Similar results were reported for all
other NYS markets. “Normally the days leading up to a major holiday see job
postings drop rather sharply given employees time off and business closures for
the holiday. Not this year – postings actually increased and recovered back to
the level of two weeks ago when we saw a 20% increase. This past few days we
also saw postings crack 2000 on a day-by-day basis – a new high”, commented Dan

are now in the third quarter of the year when analysts forecasted a better
quarter for hiring – perhaps we are seeing this start which would be welcomed
news for job seekers and the business community as a whole”.
“Other markets in
NYS increased as well. The Capital Region still outpaces Buffalo, Rochester and
Syracuse, all larger markets with more employers and population.
